Book Reviews & Raves Hello, Dear Jeannine,
Conscious Conception, Hygieia: A Woman's Herbal,I don't know how to explain it, but when I spoke to you on the phone, and as I read your books, I feel very much at home. Tears of re-cognition often fill my eyes as I read, and I feel such gratitude that you have put into words so many of the things I have wanted to write, and expanded on them in ways I had not yet conceived. As I read, I often find myself thinking, "I guess I don't have to write a book after all! Jeaninne is saying everything I have wanted to say!" Someday, I will though. I have this sense that your opening new doors of insight for me will take my thoughts new places, and there will be more to write as I filter your word medicine through my own experience. It is a flower essence handbook based upon a five year research project I conducted with 89 people in 5 countries. I wanted to make a gift of the book to you, in thanks for the tremendous gift your own work has been to me. Hygieia; A Woman's Herbal had the same kind of impact on my young womanhood that I'm sure you're familiar hearing reported. I can't even imagine how many evolutionary-minded kids have been born into The Seventh Generation primarily because their mothers and/or fathers educated themselves with your words before the children were even conceived. Conscious conception (and the ongoing results - currently manifesting as a beautiful, brave, socially conscious young man of 19) has probably been the single most influential experience of my life. Surely it's one of that life's most pivotal choices." Big Love, Acey Russell-Smith Passionate mother, plant reader, teacher and author of The Sparkling Lotus Flower Essence Handbook "I recently have gone back to fertility awareness after an awful experience with the IUD. I comforted myself after the removal through reading Conscious Conception and Hygeia: A Woman's Herbal and reading the stories of other women, including yourself, who released their uteruses from the intrusion of the IUD and medical establishment. My IUD had lost it's string and embedded itself in my uterus. I had to have a surgical abortion to have it removed, suction abortion machine, fetanyl, and cheap posters on the ceiling, only I had an IUD torn from my womb instead of a baby. The healing process was extremely difficult, my new love, an acupuncturist, provided me with caring acupuncture, moxa, and tuning forks to alleviate the trauma to my body, womb, and psyche. This experience has fired up my appetite for new healing in women's spirituality and sexuality. It's sad to realize that after the epidemic of the Dalkon Shield in the 70's, the educated thesis of my homebirth midwife on copper IUDs, and the insertion by a CNM, that I still experienced an incredible violation and injury to my body and spirit .I hope this letter finds you well, I still dream to enroll in Hygieia College someday, hopefully soon, when the Goddess provides me with the resources..." Blessings, Kara Spencer, LMP, CD Seattle, Washington I want to thank you. I read Prenatal Yoga before the birth of my daughter (now 2). You so inspired me that I felt strong enough to do a natural birth with no intervention. I kept focusing on some of the birth stories and felt confident going into labor, though I had no idea what it would be like, it being my first baby. I was also more conscious of keeping the baby next to my body from birth on. She is now a beautiful, lively and smart two year old! Now I am buying this book for a friend having her first. I also just purchased your book Hygieia. I am very interested in your Hygieia College Apprenticeship Program in Womancraft. I will email the address on your website to find out more. Thanks, Carrie Mann Marina, CA
